Success stories of the winners of the past Solve for Tomorrow Challenges

Biosheets

Biosheets aims to achieve real-time monitoring of the heart function. By combining biotechnology and polymer science, the team developed wearable and conductive polymers that continuously monitor the hearth health of their wearers and send the measured health data to their devices.

Any Charge

There is no charging station for your electric vehicle available? – That is no problem for the team AnyCharge. AnyCharge is developing autonomous robots with advanced navigation and power supply systems that will drive to electric vehicles in the future to recharge them.

SPEECH-to-HEALTH
SPEECH-to-HEALTH aims to simplify healthcare administration with a digital voice assistant. During examinations, the feature will convert spoken language directly into text, thereby relieving medical staff by up to 7% and reducing paper waste.

Street Lightelligence

Inefficient and outdated street lighting uses energy and causes light pollution. The Street Lightelligence team is solving this problem by equipping all streetlights with manufactured on-board computers at low cost.

Ceres

The Ceres team consists of three industrial engineers who develop and produce a straw-based, plastic-free filling material for parcels. The ecological packaging material is fully compostable and easy to integrate into existing packaging processes thanks to its air cushion-like shape.

Alfaneo

The aim of the Alfaneo is to green the city with algae, which they colonize on sealed surfaces. To this end, they want to develop façade elements and so-called islands of life that efficiently supply the algae with rainwater. The low-maintenance elements cool, insulate sound, improve air quality, produce energy and make cities greener in the truest sense of the word.

EP-Checkup – A great idea for healthcare and society

EP-Checkup is a communication tool between medical staff and relatives of patients who can't communicate well. With EP-Checkup, medical staff can send a voice message to their patients' family members. The voice text makes the tool easy to use for already understaffed nurses.

“I never even considered founding a company – that was completely out of my cosmos and I don’t know anyone who founded – I had no idea about founding.” But today Katharina is closer to founding her own company as she has ever been. She now has a small team and is currently being supported by Samsung to bring her idea to life.

Heartucate: designing the classroom of the future

Young people are our future, and technology will dominate their lives. Heartucate is developing a platform that brings learning into the age of augmented reality and 5G. Through interactive learning adventures, kids and teens can independently explore new worlds and collaborate on tasks. Solve for Tomorrow accompanied them on the way to founding their own company and ensured a great media response. For the two founders Anna and Franziska, the support was a kind of accelerator: "The program was a great starting point for us - for what we hope will be a lifelong journey full of new experiences and developments."

Greenlist: making grocery shopping more sustainable

Greenlist is a smartphone-based shopping list that enables consumers to choose the most sustainable products for their budget. The digital shopping list gives consumers a tool based on their values and budget. This way, they can take advantage of a shopping list and at the same time find out how sustainable the products are.

Team Greenlist applied to "Solve for Tomorrow" with this idea and has already had an exciting journey. With their team spirit and their "100 % reliability among each other", they have thus made it to the top three of the "Solve for Tomorrow" finalists.

hyperSpecs: 5G security systems for industry

A camera that can save lives - that was the idea of the hyperSpecs team. They use technology like AI and 5G to detect dangerous gases and toxic leaks, visualize when danger is present, and trigger an alarm in real time. Solve for Tomorrow guided the hyperSpecs team in developing their own prototype and launching a company last year. "The experience was super interesting and valuable for us. The program had a huge impact on the development of our prototype, which of course we are immensely proud of," says founder Diwaker Jha.

Grapes: more computing power through edge computing

The international team at Grapes is using 5G technology to deliver more render power and infinite storage capacity for gaming and compute-intensive applications. To do this, they outsource all compute-intensive rendering of data to so-called "edge nodes," which are small, decentralized servers that take over compute-intensive processes to save battery and power on their own (mobile) devices. With this idea, even people who do not own the latest and most powerful hardware gain access to great computing power. "Solve for Tomorrow was the best experience we could have had. The program makes you feel like you're not alone. You get expert support to achieve your goal," Jaime, Mobin and Jithin say enthusiastically.
