How do I participate?

#1 Register
First of all, you have to register on our platform. You can find a tutorial in the question "How to create an account on our platform and how to set it up?".

#2 Select the challenge 

Choose the challenge and click "take part".

#3 Select options of participation 

There are different options as to how you can participate in our challenges: You can create a new team for the challenge, join an existing team or participate alone (for further information: Look at the next question).

#4 Submit your idea 

Download the Submission Template. Develop new ideas and approaches and submit them via our platform's challenge workspace before the given deadline has passed.

Who can participate?

The RWE Challenge is open to all Bachelor’s and Master’s students, as well as young professionals from across various fields. Whether you specialize in biodiversity, carbon credits, climate change, biology, economics, or business, your expertise is highly valued. While the focus is on students with a background in environmental science and economics, those with engineering, data-driven, or digital expertise are also welcome to contribute their unique perspectives. The challenge is particularly aimed at participants from the UK, Europe, and Australia, though students from other regions are not excluded. Your fresh ideas and innovative thinking can make a real impact—take this opportunity to help shape the future of sustainable energy!

How mature my approach must be?

For submission, simply describe your idea or approach in the Application Template and upload it via our platform. It doesn't have to be a fully elaborated concept with a concrete implementation strategy. Visualizing your approach (e.g., a sketch, visual designs, or a prototype) is advantageous - it should be developed as best as possible but appropriate for the available time.

Is my participation binding?

Your participation is not binding until you submit the form, and the qualification phase ends. You can always withdraw your submission before the deadline. Once you have uploaded your submission and you want to take part, please consider the timeline and be aware that you should be able to participate in every further step.

What happens with the IP of my solution?

You retain the rights to your idea. Details regarding the execution of the solution will be discussed after the completion of the challenge. Download the conditions of participation here.
