Designing Enterprise Software in a Bot-First Banking Environment
NORD/LB is exploring how internal & digital enterprise interaction should evolve as chat-based interfaces and AI assistants become a primary entry point to work. NORD/LB invites selected partners to contribute strategic frameworks, interaction models, or platform and technology-layer approaches to shape the future interplay of chat, bots and classical enterprise software in a regulated banking environment.
Who can participate?
This project is open to partners who work on enterprise interaction, experience, architecture or AI-driven systems. Different organisational sizes and maturity levels are explicitly welcome. A fully developed product is not required.

Process
1. Application via Platform
Solution providers submit their application through the ekipa platform until the deadline.
2. Get-to-Know Conversations
Short digital sessions (30–45 minutes) with selected providers to:
- clarify the proposed approach and underlying assumptions
- discuss relevance for internal enterprise interaction (chat, bots, UI, systems)
- reflect feasibility, boundaries and implications in a regulated banking context
- align on expectations, collaboration model and potential next steps
3. Kick-Off Workshop & Scoping
Selected partners join an on-site or virtual workshop to:
- align on NORD/LB’s context, priorities and decision needs
- sharpen the problem framing and success criteria per track
- deepen the proposed logic (e.g. interaction patterns, architectural options, governance implications)
- define what a meaningful outcome of a deeper collaboration would look like.
The outcome is a clear scope, required budget and work plan for the next phase. Depending on the budget there will be a go/ no-go decision by NORD/LB.
4. PoC Building / Validation-Phase
Based on the scoping results, NORD/LB may decide to further explore selected approaches together with individual partners. Depending on the nature of the approach, this may include:
- deepening conceptual frameworks or decision models
- refining interaction concepts or reference architectures
- validating assumptions through selected examples or scenarios
- translating insights into concrete implications for NORD/LB’s enterprise landscape
NORD/LB actively contributes by providing:
- access to key stakeholders and decision-makers across innovation, UX, architecture, automation and data
- contextual insights into NORD/LB’s enterprise landscape, governance constraints and logic
- transparency on strategic priorities, trade-offs and non-negotiables in a regulated banking environment
5. Rollout Evaluation & Next Steps
NORD/LB and the respective partners jointly evaluate the outcomes and decide on suitable next steps, which may include:
- further conceptual or strategic collaboration
- pilot projects or targeted validations
- technology integration, licensing or co-development
