Enhance cancer care at home
Cancer therapy can be a challenging and time-consuming process, requiring patients to travel to medical facilities for appointments and treatments. This can be especially difficult for patients who live far away from treatment centres or who have mobility or transportation issues.
Advancement in medical devices, and digital technologies such as remote monitoring and telehealth offers a promising way for cancer patients and their families to receive treatment in the comfort of their own homes.
Gerresheimer as a leading MedTech company has advanced their products to the point where devices for administering medication can be portable, and easy to use, which is one central cornerstone to enable out-of-hospital care.
Despite the potential advantages of at-home cancer care and the given readiness of medical devices, treatment today is still limited primarily to large healthcare organizations. One major reason is that the healthcare system is complex and involves multiple stakeholders, including pharma, payers, physicians, patients, providers and policy maker – the 6Ps – each with their own unique challenges and needs.
This is where you come into play. Your challenge is to create or apply (digital) services and solutions with drug/device combinations that deliver more convenience for the patient.
Challenge
We are seeking innovative solutions extending the healthcare value chain, so that we can provide patients with the best possible therapy (at home) by identifying specific unmet needs of the 6Ps. The key question therefore is:
- How can we enable and enhance home care for any cancer patients through innovative (digital) services and solutions?
To achieve this, we have identified the 6 Ps as critical opportunity areas for innovation: Patients, Payers, Physicians, Pharma, Providers and Policy Makers.
We believe that by tackling specific unmet needs of each stakeholder group, we can make significant progress towards improving home care for cancer patients.
More information for each opportunity area and inspiring content can be found in the tab “Opportunity areas”. More background information can be found in the tab “Knowledge Base”.
Goal and Outcome
If the proof-of-concept is successfully developed by the end of the challenge, in addition to the prize money, there is an opportunity for a joint pilot project and implementation. Further cooperation possibilities such as partnerships, investments, or joint business building are also sought after.
Participation is open to startups, companies, students, and researchers who have the chance to explore partnerships leading to venturing opportunities, (research) collaborations, or hiring.
