Boundary conditions and requirements to a battery housing
Choose your path
The battery has its optimal working temperature. Therefore, it is tempered constantly, in general there are two approaches on the market to solve this challenge. Therefore, you need to choose between two alternatives before developing your approach.
Option 1)
Batteries with integrated tempering elements in the battery cells themselves.
Option 2)
Systems, where the tempering is integrated into the battery housing (e.g. tempering lines). If you choose this option, please also work on a concept on how to integrate the tempering into the battery housing.
Geometry and requirements
To ensure that you have enough input to design your innovative battery housing, please note the following three main information:
· The design space of your battery housing is 2000 mm x 1500 mm x 200 mm
· The general requirements of the battery housing can be found in the document ECE R100
· Which test the battery housing and the cells need to fulfill can be found in the SANDIA REPORT (SAND2005-3123)
Please keep in mind, that the battery housing is the focus of these challenge and not the battery cells and packs.
