Rights to submitted ideas
If the participants are among the winners of the Challenge, the following applies to the intellectual property rights in the results:
If the idea of the winners produces software or other work protected by copyright and/or related rights, the winners agree to make the software and works created in the challenge available under the terms of the Open Source MIT License (X11 License) and other works created under the terms of the CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 Deed License. The MIT License and the Creative Commons License thereby expressly become part of the Terms of Participation. In the event of any inconsistency between the MIT License or the Creative Common License and the Terms of Participation, these Terms of Participation shall prevail.
If any protected content is not covered by either license, the winners are obligated to work with Deloitte to resolve the issue in a timely manner. The winners are obliged to inform themselves about the terms of the license.
Information about the licenses:
The MIT license (X11 license) is an internationally recognized open source license. Based on it, users have the right. To use, copy, modify and distribute (which includes sale) original or modified software. The only requirement is that all versions comply with the terms of the license and include information about the author. The MIT license allows the use of source code for both free software and proprietary (closed source) software.
Under the CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 Deed license, a work may be copied and distributed on any medium or in any format, as well as mixed and its content modified, excluding commercial purposes. This requires that the work be appropriately labeled, a link to the appropriate license be provided, and any modifications, if made, be indicated. An edited or remixed work should be distributed under the same terms as the original work.
