Innovate Sustainable Mobility

The future of mobility must be sustainable! But are we really open to shift to an electrified and sustainable world and stop using vehicles that are responsible for more than 10% of global carbon emissions? We need to change and drive the innovative transformation in industry, infrastructure, society and the combustion culture. If we want to overcome the obstacles and succeed, we need to exploit new digital opportunities. Start your idea engine and drive a major change that makes mobility holistically cleaner, safer, and more sustainable.

Submission Template

For the participation within the Innovate 2030 program, a common submission template is available. This template will help you to structure your ideas and approaches and to find answers to all relevant questions.

The Submission Template is mandatory to submit.

In addition to this submission template, you will find specific requirements and guiding questions for your use case in the "Guiding Questions" section down below.

You can also complement your submission with prototypes, pitch decks, image and video materials, higher-level concepts, or specific use case-related instruments – simply submit these documents along with the submission template via our platform.

Criteria & guidelines

Scope of solutions

The main target area are solutions that consider car makers as a key part of the solution.

Nonetheless, if a solution can be found to help shift personal transportation (to electric vehicles) that is provided by other players in the ecosystem, that is also in scope.

However, it should be ensured that direct business is not taken away from car makers, as such solutions are not promising from our point of view

Promising approaches

  • Digital solution that helps customer in their transition from combustion to electric
  • Digital solution that makes electric driving easier
  • Business model behind such a solution as well as new business models for OEMs
  • Charging operators that make charging easy and convenient
  • Digital solutions that provide information about charging stations while driving

What‘s there already

  • Different apps and digital services from OEMs, e.g. to find charging points or info about the battery status
  • Multi-Modal mobility provider that offers various ways of transportation - we are not looking for yet another app that provides multi-modal transportation.
  • In-car information about battery range etc.
  • Sharing and payment providers

Guiding Questions

This Challenge is calling for the most innovative digital solutions that accelerate and enable the transition towards electric vehicles by overcoming current obstacles for B2C and B2B customers.

The following guiding questions are for your inspiration, and it is not mandatory to answer all of them. All guiding questions should further aim at overcoming the given obstacles (see Tab Important Details).

Industry

  • How can we e-mobilize the industry? With which methods and tools can create incentives in the industry to drive e-mobility forward?
  • What is required to transform from a car maker to a provider of sustainable mobility?
  • How can we make sure that sustainable mobility remains profitable business for car makers?

Innovation

  • How can we accelerate user friendly innovations?
  • Which methods or campaigns might be successful to roll out the transformation and implementation of sustainable mobility?
  • How can we close the combustion driver’s e-mobility trust gap? How can we make all car drivers believe that electric vehicles are the new cool?
  • How can we build up awareness in general for the transition to cleaner, safer, more inclusive & sustainable mobility systems?

Infrastructure

  • How can we update the infrastructure for sustainable mobility easy, fast and as convenient as possible for drivers?
  • How can we integrate all required players in the e-mobility infrastructure (car makers, charging providers, parking space owner, cities, …) to create a sustainable mobility ecosystem that is easy to use?
  • Which data is required to create a seamless and convenient customer experience while driving and charging an electric vehicle?
