Future of sustainable energy concepts

The increasing climatic challenges as well as political geo-crises have an ever more immense influence on energy consumption. Sustainable energy concepts and renewable energies can efficiently counteract these challenges. However, this requires innovative and intelligent solutions that ensure the development of sustainable, implementable and climate-friendly energy concepts by processing complex data sets.

Here is some important information, that you should consider when working on this challenge. All information given can be downloaded via the tab 'Submission'.

Please consider the following steps to develop your ideas:

Data availability

To develop an appropriate concept, we should start by considering the energy-relevant data available, relevant as well as how to validate and categorize it.

  • Which data is relevant to develop complex sustainable energy concepts for the manufacturing industry?
  • Is there any relevant data, which still needs to be extracted? Which methods are suitable for this?
  • Are there differences in which data is relevant for different industries? Is there any special kind of resources used by certain industries?
  • Which regulatory requirements need to be observed?

Data collection & bundling

The structuring, categorization, composition as well as correlation of data are crucial for the next step.

  • What is the data architecture?
  • How can the data be categorized?
  • Which relations and co-dependencies can be identified?
  • What can be concluded from it?

Validation & conceptualization

Knowing the data, and how to gather & validate it, you should develop data-driven forecasting and planning models, which will help the industry actors to plan and integrate sustainable energy concepts regarding

  • Which areas and sectors of application can energy concepts be developed for?
  • Which data is relevant for this?
  • How and in which context should different aspects, such as weather conditions, legal frameworks or industrial specifics be considered?
  • Which digital technologies can be used to develop forecasting and planning models based on the data provided?
  • What does the user journey of the user look like?
  • How can long-term cooperation be implemented with such an application?

An overall goal is thus a scalable approach to data-based model development for comprehensive and tailored analyses and recommendations for action for energy concepts.
