Future of sustainable energy concepts
The increasing climatic challenges as well as political geo-crises have an ever more immense influence on energy consumption. Sustainable energy concepts and renewable energies can efficiently counteract these challenges. However, this requires innovative and intelligent solutions that ensure the development of sustainable, implementable and climate-friendly energy concepts by processing complex data sets.

Future of sustainable energy concepts
Today, decentralized energy concepts are the key to a long-term, cost-effective, and sustainable energy supply for companies. Reduced acquisition costs for generation plants and potential tax and surcharge savings make it attractive to generate and consume electricity on-site. The issue of sustainability has also become a clear focus for many companies against the backdrop of the current climate protection debates and the demand for a reduction in CO2 emissions.
The development and implementation of such energy concepts today, however, requires new digital and data-driven solutions. Along with the complex legal and regulatory frameworks of a modern decentralized energy supply, with a variety of interrelated data, the new solutions must consider many relevant aspects, developments, and bureaucratic hurdles.
That's why Rhein Energie is looking for innovative digital solutions for the development of sustainable energy concepts for manufacturing companies
Information on the challenge
Today, the availability and processing of data is crucial as a basis for decision-making in these more complex energy management systems and is an elementary component of a successful energy transition. Currently, an enormous amount of data is openly available. It implies, for instance, network data, weather condition data, annual reports or production & industry data. This data has an immense potential to be analyzed and used as a basis for innovative energy concepts. However, there is currently a lack of suitable digital tools to not only bundle this data but also to perform comprehensive and complex analyses with it in order to develop appropriate decision-making models for sustainable and individual energy concepts.
Guiding questions
- Which concrete data is relevant for such an application? Which data is relevant for the determination of a sustainable and optimal energy concept?
- How can the data usefully be interpreted and what correlations can be identified?
- What methods should be used to extract, interpret, and evaluate the different data?
- Are there different characteristics for certain industries that should be considered? Based on which criteria do the differences arise? How does this affect the application? Should the models be differentiated by industry?
- How should seasonal conditions be addressed? What other special conditions may be relevant?
- What other functions, such as an overview of the legal framework, need to be included in the application? How should these aspects be integrated?
- How can the risk-hedging aspect of the economic and legal situation be considered?
