Executive Summary
Challenge in one sentence
Scheidt & Bachmann is looking for an external mobile engineering partner to build a native iOS/Android test application that detects, groups and visualizes Bluetooth Low Energy beacon signals in real time, and records the resulting data for offline analysis.
Why This Matters
Scheidt & Bachmann is exploring a new innovation topic around its Fair Gates product line that depends on precise, high-frequency Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) signal measurement at the gate. Standard, off-the-shelf beacon apps are typically limited to a sampling rate of roughly one reading every three seconds, which is far too slow to evaluate whether this approach is technically viable. Before any further product decision can be made, Scheidt & Bachmann needs a dedicated test application that empirically establishes, for each platform, the shortest reliable interval at which a fresh signal reading can be obtained, in both foreground and background operation, and makes the resulting signal behavior visible and analyzable. This challenge is deliberately scoped to that first, foundational step; the broader innovation context behind it remains confidential at this stage and is shared only after an NDA.
Solution Space
We are looking for solutions that can provide:
- A native iOS and Android test application that detects and groups multiple BLE beacons
- A configurable BLE scan/sampling rate, with the shortest reliable reading interval empirically benchmarked on real devices (not a theoretical figure), measured separately for foreground and background operation
- Live RSSI (signal strength) visualization per beacon and per beacon group, with smoothing/aggregation to reduce noise
- Session recording, local storage and export of measurement data (including device motion sensor data) for offline analysis
The Venture Clienting project focuses on validating this test application as a technical enabler for the underlying innovation topic, in a controlled, exploratory PoC setting.
Why Participate
This challenge offers solution providers the opportunity to work directly with Scheidt & Bachmann's product management team on a hands-on, technically demanding mobile engineering challenge with a clear path toward long-term productization.
Participants can gain:
- A financed PoC within a structured Venture Client framework
- Direct collaboration with Scheidt & Bachmann's product management team
- Access to a real enterprise use case and domain context from a global public transport supplier
- A clear pathway toward long-term development of an Software Development Kit and, ultimately, a production-ready product
- A strong enterprise reference case in the public transport sector
Process
The participation process is structured to provide fast clarity and a fair evaluation for all applicants:
- Submit your application answering key questions about your solution, its maturity and expected value contribution.
- Evaluation & shortlisting of solution providers based on problem fit, feasibility and expected impact.
- Get-to-Know Session with Scheidt & Bachmann to explore use case alignment and requirements.
- Successful candidates will be asked to submit a PoC Proposal based on communicated requirements.
- Proof of Concept (PoC) Building with a clearly defined scope.
- Successful solutions will then enter co-development phases toward long-term partnership.
