ebm-papst is seeking solution providers that can digitize shopfloor data capture and create a clear, timely KPI view for its HighSpeed PilotPlant. The goal is to replace manual, fragmented data flows with a reliable operational dashboard that supports both operators and team leads. Selected teams gain the opportunity to run a PoC and enter a long-term partnership.

Target 

Goal is to establish a clear, consolidated and visual manufacturing KPI dashboard that reflects the operational reality of the HighSpeed PilotPlant. The dashboard should turn today’s fragmented and manually reported information into an easy-to-use view of production performance that can be used daily/ weekly by shopfloor teams and leadership. 

Solution Requirements 

Requirements for data collection 

  • Support capturing data in a way that reduces manual entry and inconsistencies  
  • Capture key operational events such as:  
  • amount of pieces per day/machine & month 
  • amount of completes orders per month 
  • amount of completed steps per order per day 
  • machine running time per day, week & month 
  • set-up time per day or process 
  • scrap rate per order and machine 
  • cycle time per process 
  • Support evolving processes and changing data structures 

Requirements for data processing & visualization 

  • Provide a visual manufacturing KPI dashboard for monitoring sample production. Real-time is not required 
  • Display core operational KPIs, such as  
  • OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) for each machine à status symbol 
  • delivery reliability 
  • material availability  
  • reason for downtime 
  • Support simple interpretation (e.g., color signals, status indicators). 
  • The dashboard should support both daily shopfloor routines and team-lead oversight 

IT Guidelines  

  • The manufacturing machines must not be directly connected to the internet 
  • Software should preferably run on the internal infrastructure, i.e. no purely cloud-based 
  • Architecture should allow future alignment with SAP ME or related SAP manufacturing environments, without requiring SAP integration for the POC.  
  • Ensure compliance with industrial confidentiality and security requirements. 

Evaluation criteria 

  • reliability of data 
  • adaptability of KPIs (adding/removing) 
  • ease of use and clear overview 

What’s Not in Scope 

  • Real-time not required (1d > 1w > 1m). 
  • Full MES or ERP replacement or deployment. 
  • Redesign of production workflows or industrial engineering processes. 
  • Solutions requiring major changes to ebm-papst’s IT environment. 

Partner Requirements 

  • Experience with shopfloor data capture, operational KPI tracking, or OEE-/production monitoring solutions. 
  • Ability to work with heterogeneous operational data and evolving processes. 
  • Capability to operate in confidential, high-precision manufacturing settings. 
  • Presence in Europe/DACH, ability to participate in on-site sessions. 
  • Technical and organizational maturity to execute a structured, time-bound PoC.
