Company - Who are we?
GELSENWASSER AG looks back on a company history of more than 130 years and is now a versatile infrastructure company. Starting with the water supply of the coal and steel industry in the Ruhr area, the company's portfolio has expanded over the years to include other topics, such as energy supply, energy sales, waste water treatment and digital networks and much more. Customers are households and communities, utilities, and industrial companies. GELSENWASSER is active in more than 70 towns and communities in the fields of water and energy supply as well as wastewater disposal. In addition, there are cooperations with about 30 supply companies which receive drinking water or natural gas for their customers.

GELSENWASSER is an innovative company and works on numerous projects on topics. Topics that are close to the core business are tried out in small projects. This is often done in cooperation with universities and start-ups. A LoRa network was set up for the city of Gelsenkirchen to which 170 digital water meters are to be connected. In cooperation with a start-up, an assistance system for waterworks was developed. This system is used to analyze historical and current operating data in order to take into account price fluctuations in the operation of the waterworks. Thus, electricity procurement costs can be reduced. Storage technologies were tested in the project EnerPrax, which was funded by the state of NRW.
With this GELSENWASSER wants to show that they are open for new and innovative approaches and also the chance of further collaboration with the winning teams.
