Executive Summary

Challenge in one sentence

Identifying new, scalable applications for Wacker Neusons robust, swappable BatteryOne system - within or beyond today’s construction use cases - by developing functional prototypes that prove both technical feasibility and commercial potential. BatteryOne is Wacker Neuson's brand for its modular, swappable battery system. The system consists of robust 48V DC battery packs that can be flexibly exchanged between different devices. For innovators, this creates an opportunity to co-develop new battery-powered products with a global industrial partner and access real hardware, engineering know-how and commercialization pathways.

Why This Matters

BatteryOne is not just another battery supply option - it is a platform approach with more than 10 years of experience. Many companies already work with battery suppliers, but typically in a product-specific setup: one battery, one device, one integration. BatteryOne goes further. It offers a standardized, swappable ecosystem that can power entire product families, different device categories, or even cross-company solutions. This reduces long-term engineering effort, simplifies service and spare parts management, and enables new business models around fleet usage, battery sharing, or energy-as-a-service. Rather than replacing existing suppliers in a transactional way, BatteryOne can complement or strategically evolve a company’s portfolio toward a modular, future-proof power architecture.

Why BatteryOne?

  • Durability: outdoor-ready, proven in demanding construction environments
  • Easy Integration: Plug & Play with 40+ different products already connected
  • Certifications: CE, UL, UN3480 – saves time and money
  • Swappability: One standardized battery in 3 capacities, powering entire product families or cross-company solutions – enabling new business models like fleet usage, battery sharing, or energy-as-a-service.
  • Scalability: From prototype to series production
  • Track record: More than 40 construction machine models across 6 different brands
  • Pricing: First prototype free of charge, exclusive conditions for series

Solution Space

The objective is to explore solutions that integrate BatteryOne into any kind of device, tool or system where a robust, swappable 48V DC battery provides a functional or commercial advantage. The challenge is fully industry-open. If your solution benefits from portable power, it is in scope.

Why Participate

For start-ups and established companies alike, this is more than a technology experiment — it's a chance to co-create the next scalable business opportunity of battery-powered solutions with a global industrial partner. This project offers innovators a unique opportunity to build and validate a new product together with Wacker Neuson.
