Inspire a more sustainable way to retail

Each product we produce, use and dispose has a specific social-ecological impact. Being faced with a very complex product-lifecycle, a consumer cannot be aware of the exact consequences the product might have triggered. With QVC you can tackle the exciting task to create a more transparent lifecycle of their products and therefore help them and their customers to enhance ethical consumption.

To support you in your idea and team generation process, you have the opportunity to participate in one of our digital Design Thinking Workshop - register here or find more information here.

Submission Template

For the elaboration of the use cases within the Innovate 2030 project, a common submission template is available. This template will help you to structure your ideas and approaches and to find answers to all relevant questions.

DOWNLOAD SUBMISSION TEMPLATE

In addition to this submission template, you will find specific requirements and guiding questions for your use case in the "Guiding Questions" tab, which you need to consider when preparing your submission.

You can also complement your submission with prototypes, pitch decks, image and video materials, higher-level concepts, or specific use case-related instruments – simply submit these documents along with the submission template via our platform.

The goal is that through this approach (submission template, guiding questions and optional documents), solutions within the overall project can cover a broad spectrum: From concrete digital product ideas to higher-level visions.

Guiding questions

Tracking and transparency: What would be an efficient way to make the lifecycle of a product more transparent? How can we insure it to be traced and tracked?

  • What would be a good aspect to address first? Where should one start tackling this issue?
  • How can the product life cycle of certain products or product types be broken down into individual and important components and criteria regarding its sustainability?
  • Which steps in the product lifecycle are relevant for the social and environmental footprint?
  • How can we take this into account when designing a product or making a purchasing decision?
  • How can relevant steps in the product lifecycle be analysed and the right data be collected in a traceable and secure way?
  • How can we insure internal and external traceability?
  • How can QVC measure its overall impact via its diverse range of products? What would be the best approach to use?

Sustainability standards: Can we define sustainable standards for a product and its lifecycle regarding its social and environmental footprints? How could such a guideline look like? Which indicators and criteria need to be highlighted?

  • Based on existing data and concepts for product sustainability trackability (either through your own work or matching existing sustainability data): What standards need to be created for which products?
  • How can products be evaluated for their "sustainability" in a comprehensible and traceable way?
  • How can transparent and reliable KPIs and metrics be established that end customers can trust?
  • How can QVC optimize their product and brand mix as well as their design process with regards to SDGs?
