For the participation within the Innovate 2030 program, a common submission template is available. This template will help you to structure your ideas and approaches and to find answers to all relevant questions.
The Submission Template is mandatory to submit.

You can also complement your submission with prototypes, pitch decks, image and video materials, higher-level concepts, or specific use case-related instruments – simply submit these documents along with the submission template via our platform.
Guiding Questions
This Challenge is calling for the most innovative digital solutions, concepts or use cases of existing digital solutions that foster a sustainable social and environmental development in Portoviejo by enhancing opportunities of smart and sustainable tourism.
The following guiding questions are for your inspiration, and it is not mandatory to answer all of them.

- Who will be involved in a smart and sustainable tourism destination?
- How can Portoviejo be positioned locally and internationally through a digital solution?

- How can smart tourism solutions contribute to improving the standard of living of the population in areas such as solid waste management and sustainable consumption?
Key Objectives
The goal is to make Portoviejo an innovative, active and prosperous canton.
The core focus is to increase the income of taxpayers with economic activity in the canton - a smart and sustainable tourism and thus destination should promote exactly that and contribute to essential areas of economic and social development:
- The end of poverty
- Gender equality
- Decent work and economic growth
- Development of industry, innovation and infrastructure
- Reduction of inequalities
- Sustainable cities and communities
- Responsible reduction of consumption
All smart tourism solutions should directly or indirectly contribute to these development goals.
The desired outcome of this challenge is to develop concrete digital solutions or solid waste management models for smart tourism management that uses the collection of smart data and smart approaches, adapted to the needs of current and future tourism after the pandemic, driving the promotion of technological innovation in the tourism sector in the city of Portoviejo.
