The following opportunity areas have been identified as promising for developing innovative solutions.
What are the focus areas?
While the following areas are intended to inspire participants, you can also go with alternative approaches that meet the key challenge, criteria and guidelines provided.
DEVICES & DATA
The focus here is on innovative solutions that address science-driven technology and devices to improve preventive measures during heat waves. This implies the different sensor, measurement, and app solutions to gather & store the relevant data to identify, monitor and take action on vulnerable groups during heatwaves.
Within this area, you also should identify relevant health data and conditions, such as existing pathologies or therapies, that are particularly important in the context of the heat waves. This involves figuring out what to look for in data collection and analysis, and how to seamlessly obtain that data from affected individuals.
In the attached PDF you can find more inspiring guiding questions.
PREDICTIONS & MONITORING
Once the data is collected, analyses need to be performed to enable preventive measures for the individual cases. The focus here is on identifying relevant patterns to monitor the health of vulnerable patients and ultimately derive the appropriate measures.
Central to this opportunity area is the development of concepts that can establish correlations and connections between the collected data and derive actionable insights to avoid negative consequences.
In the attached PDF you can find more inspiring guiding questions.
ALARM SYSTEMS
The overall goal of this task is to develop a system that will inform either the nursing staff or the affected individuals about the necessary protective and preventive measures and provide actionable recommendations to avoid negative consequences from the heat waves.
This requires the development of different alarm systems suitable for different conditions and situations, whether for care facilities or for self-sufficient but vulnerable individuals.
In the attached PDF you can find more inspiring guiding questions.
CREATIVITY
If you have additional ideas to protect vulnerable individuals from negative health effects of heatwaves that have not been addressed in the pre-defined opportunity areas, you are welcome to bring forward suitable ideas!
