FAQ

What is TRUMPF looking for?

In industrial manufacturing, digital solutions are no longer just add-ons — they’re becoming key drivers of efficiency, quality, and safety. As machines generate increasing volumes of data, the opportunity grows to transform this information into insights that improve how people work: making processes more transparent, reducing downtime, and enabling faster, more informed decisions. These tools help organizations to operate smarter and more reliably in complex production environments. For manufacturers like TRUMPF, the goal is to evolve digital services not just to meet expectations — but to create real value throughout the machine lifecycle, from planning to maintenance to optimization.

Core Question

How can TRUMPF enhance its customer portal and growing Customer Portal Ecosystem through smart, integratable digital modules?

null

You can choose one or all of the following opportunity areas to develop your solution:

Opportunity Area 1: Enhancing the Customer Dashboard

The existing dashboard provides customers with access to machine status, basic KPIs, and condition monitoring. However, the current experience lacks interactivity, and personalized support. TRUMPF sees an opportunity to:

  • Create visual and interactive elements that surface insights or guide users more effectively
  • Introduce AI-powered recommendations or learning-based support

Solutions in this area should help users make better decisions, reduce friction, and feel supported by the system — not overwhelmed by it.

Current Solutions that TRUMPF is already working on and therefore out of scope:

  • AI Pilots: Summarize Customer support requests and prioritize them for processing
  • Error solutions: ChatBot to answer customer-related questions and guide customers through troubleshooting (1:1 error code à Technical solution or 1:n no error code but decision tree to find solution for technical problem)
  • Knowledge Hub with digitized information on TRUMPF machines and instructions

Opportunity Area 2: Digitizing the Maintenance Process

Maintenance around TRUMPF machines is still partially manual based on lists and fragmented. The goal is to create a digitally guided, transparent maintenance workflow for customers that covers the entire lifecycle — from scheduling and preparation to execution and documentation. This may include:

  • Digital checklists and task flows for customers
  • Smart scheduling and alert systems
  • Integration with existing machine data and historical service records

Opportunity Area 3: Creativity

What other ideas can you come up with that improve customer interaction amongst the Trumpf machinery ecosystem. In this track we invite additional solution providers to submit their ideas. What else could be interesting for machine manufacturers?

The aim is to build an overarching service backbone including Add-on digital Services (like insurance offers, co2 compensation etc.), offered by TRUMPF to its customers, that can adapt across regions, machines, and service types.

Goals & Criteria

Solutions should aim to:

  • Enhance interaction within machine dashboards (visualization, personalization, AI-based support)
  • Digitize maintenance workflows for customers (e.g., guided task flows, smart planning, digital documentation)
  • Seamlessly integrate into the existing MyTRUMPF customer portal and system landscape
  • Operate as cloud-based, web-capable solutions (multilingual: at least DE/EN)
  • Be scalable and configurable for global industrial use
  • Reflect realistic user roles and permission logic in maintenance/service contexts

Regulatory, Data, and Security

  • GDPR & IT security: essential for cloud deployment and handling production-adjacent data
  • Data sovereignty: solutions must respect global/regional data regulations and internal security standards

Preferred approaches include:

  • AI-based features (e.g., recommendations, anomaly detection, chatbot assistants)
  • Interoperability with machine data, service logs, and ERP interfaces
  • Guided process design (e.g., step-by-step checklists or flows)
  • Modular/customizable design for different user needs or machine types

What Should Your Application Communicate?

  • You don’t need a fully market-ready product. Your submission should clearly demonstrate the value and maturity of your approach, including:
  • How your solution addresses one or both of the opportunity areas
  • What parts of your solution are already developed (e.g., working modules, UI mockups, pilots)
  • What parts still require co-development and how collaboration with TRUMPF would help
  • How your solution would integrate with the current TRUMPF platform landscape
  • Key technical requirements or dependencies
  • Data types needed (e.g., machine logs, service history, user behavior)
  • A potential pilot scenario: scope, timeline, KPIs, and estimated effort
  • The long-term value proposition: e.g., co-development, licensing, portal integration

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for innovative partners who:

  • Are open to co-developing and adapting their solution for TRUMPF’s customer portal ecosystem
  • Can demonstrate integration capabilities with B2B industrial platforms
  • Provide realistic and transparent expectations for piloting and scaling
