Status Quo
Organizations have a duty to their employees and the economy, but they also have a responsibility to society as a whole. This includes the ecological and economic consequences of their actions on the environment. Therefore, it is important for organizations to carefully consider these responsibilities in all of their decisions.
Given that the pharmaceutical industry is a major contributor to global CO2 emissions, with over 50 million tons produced annually, while also employing a large number of people worldwide, it is not surprising that pharmaceutical organizations are increasingly seeking ways to balance economic and ecological goals as they strive for sustainability.
Challenge
medac has established sustainability as a strategic priority. Be it the continuous improvement of environmental performance while complying with applicable environmental law, the reduction of environmental impact such as resource and energy consumption or promoting environmental awareness and sustainability – medac wants to act more ecologically and environmentally friendly in all aspects and, thus, consistently link sustainability aspects with business success.
In order to realize these strategic objectives, an innovation program has been developed that calls on all employees of the medac family to develop new ideas and solutions, enabling and empowering participants to shape medac´s sustainable future.
All of you are encouraged to jointly tackle the ecological and environmental challenges in different opportunity areas, which can be found below.

The implementation process
The finalist ideas will be further developed in collaboration with the relevant department(s) after the challenge. It may not be possible to pursue all of the ideas at the same time, but they will be addressed in turn. In addition, ideas that were not selected as finalists will be coordinated and managed by the HSE department through the HSE proposal list.
