Energy Revolution @ Gelsenwasser Quartier
#Technology4Energy #EnergyTransition #EmissionFreeEnergy
In order to counteract climate change and implement the energy turnaround, new approaches and ideas are needed, especially in the area of energy supply. GELSENWASSER AG already actively supports the energy turnaround by generating and using renewable energy itself. CO2 emissions are continuously reduced by energy efficiency measures. We need innovative ideas and your support in order to achieve our goal of supplying our own company while emitting as few emissions as possible. Think global, act local - work for emission-free Gelsenkirchen!

Status Quo
The energy revolution has become increasingly important for all of us in recent years and must be one of our top priorities if we are to win the battle against climate change. Here we see many new approaches and ideas that will help us to make society greener and more sustainable and to permanently reduce CO2 emissions. Especially the energy supply in urban areas is a big challenge. More than half of all people already live in cities, and around 80 percent of global greenhouse gases are emitted there. Cities and communities therefore play a key role in energy system transformation and climate protection.
Question
Companies can also make a contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Since the energy requirements of company sites often reach a significant level, grid connections were usually used in conjunction with central generation facilities. Grid electricity still has a share of about 54% from conventional energy sources. Renewable energy sources have a share of about 14% in the heat supply. Both electricity and heat supply from grids are still burdened with CO2 emissions.
Decentralized concepts today have a great potential to cause low emissions. Therefore, individual concepts for energy supply are necessary for many industrial locations.
GELSENWASSER AG systematically pursues approaches to implement the energy turnaround not only externally but also within the company. An important component of this objective is, among other things, the energy supply of the company's headquarters at the Gelsenkirchen site. This consists of both administrative and operational buildings. Since 1962, the site has been continuously expanded with various buildings. Energy supply systems at the site have also been further developed or supplemented. The construction of a laboratory and office building for the subsidiary of Westfälische Wasser- and Umweltanalytik GmbH will start shortly. The new building with an energetic conception is the basis for the approach of an evaluation of energy supply concepts for the existing buildings.
In order to counteract climate change and implement the energy turnaround, new approaches and ideas are needed, especially in the area of energy supply. Gelsenwasser starts with itself and has set itself the goal of supplying its own company with as few emissions as possible, for which your support is needed.
Which technologies are suitable to supply the building stock with the necessary amounts of heat, cold and electrical energy as emission-free as possible?
The aim is to develop creative approaches for the energy supply from the perspective of ecological and economic sustainability.
